Gel nails

On Tuesday I had my nails gelled (not sure if that is the technical term) at this little shop in Princes Risborough, called Allure (I couldn't find a website to link) and they were brilliant . I must say I was amazed at how they did it and how quickly too. I love how they ave turned out and would definitely recommend them.

I know that everyone says that it is really bad for your nails, and I'm sure that they are probably right, however I am in love with my new nails at the moment and don't really want to think about how damaged they will be when they are taken off.

It has taken me a while to get used to them. Typing, for example is proving very difficult, texting even harder. But I love them and don't care. I chose this bright red colour because I think that it is so gorgeous.

So far so good, however it is only Wednesday, so we shall see how I feel after a week or two. I'll keep you updated. Let me know what you thought of gel nails if you've had them, or if you have any tips. I'm open to any opinions or advice.

Nail Varnish Review: Collection 2000 Hot Looks

I have recently been testing out nail varnish from Collection 2000's Hot Looks range. At first I was skeptical about these nail varnishes, since I wasn't really sure on the packaging or the colours, but I have been pleasantly surprised  I bought 3 in the colours 36 Ninja (shown in the picture below), which is a really nice pea green colour, 45 Lemon Soda, which is a light yellow and 33 Button Moon, a really pale blue. Not necessarily the colours I would usually go for, but so far they have been really good.

I have currently only tried out Ninja, mainly because I have just have my nails gelled (I shallbe doing a whole post on this soon, hopefully) and therefore I shan't be painting my nails for a little while, but I love this nail varnish because it is completely different from all my other colours. I found that it lasted really well, though you do need to use a bottom coat, which you should do all the time (I never do, really bad, I know), because it does stain your nails a beautiful green/yellow colour, as I found out.

Fragrance Review: Next Milan

I was recently given a fragrance by Next called Milan. I must say that I am becoming quite a fan of this fragrance, it has turned out to be really nice. I must confess now that I am rubbish at telling you if a perfume is 'fruity' or anything like that, I can't tell you anything about 'notes' in a fragrance, but it is quite sweet and floral. All I can really say about it is that I like it and would recommend going and having a sniff to see if you like it as well.

Foundation Review: Match Perfection Cream Compact

The other day I bought a new foundation, simply because I needed to get one in a lighter shade because of the lack of sun the British winter brings. I always find the high-street make-up aisle to be overwhelming  especially when it comes to choosing foundations. So after looking at endless bottles of liquid foundation, I decided to go for a cream foundation from Rimmel London.
It says that is a 'light perfecting cream compact foundation' with SPF 15 on the front. I bought it in the colour 100 Ivory. On the back it says that it is a 'Cream Compact Foundation. Traceless coverage, undetectable in any light. Lasts all day. Dermatologically tested.' It comes in this handy little compact which is ideal. The palette that the foundation sits in lifts up and underneath is a mirror with a compartment with a sponge.

I have been testing this foundation for a week now and I must say that I am very impressed. At first I didn't really like the texture, which is quite sticky, however it does not feel sticky on the skin. I attempted using the sponge that it comes with, but I don't really get on that well putting foundation on with a sponge, so I have transferred to using my fingers. I find it really easy to use and I find that I don't have to use as much as with liquid foundation. So overall I am very pleased with this new foundation and recommend it.

Cosmetics a la carte foundation

It was quite a long time ago that I discovered Cosmetics a la carte, by going to this website. I had heard of it because it apparently gives you samples of their products. I entered in everything that you need to get an acount with them and thought nothing of it. Months passed and I completely forgot about the website, but then I got these cute little bottles and a plastic bag of powder in the post:
On the left is a sample of their Matte Miracle in the shade light and on the right is their Skin Velvet Foundation in the shade Ivory Cream. I'm not certain what the powder was, just your average slightly Ivory toned powder. They had chosen products that fitted the details that I entered in, such as having oily skin, hence the shine reducer.

These products are of really good quality and I have loved using my little samples. I have nearly finished my foundation bottle, which is depressing as it was really good and smells really nice. I would definitely recommend the products I was sent, however I don't think that I will be buying anything from the company anytime soon, Student=no money and by the look of the website they are pretty expensive.

False Nails, First Attempt

Hello I thought that I would share with you my first trial of false nails. I know that getting to 18 without trying false nails is an achievement in itself. But anyway, yesterday was my first attempt. I used Primark ones, which I know is probably not that great, but I love that shop and it was a bit of an impulse buy. The only cost £1, so I wasn't expecting miracles from them, but they looked really cute.
So I tried these blue and white striped nails with a small heart in the left corner. I think that they looked nice, but I must admit that they took a lot of getting used to. in the end I had to take the thumb ones off, though the first thumb did fall off of its own accord, mainly because taking my contact lenses out was a nightmare! So instead I just painted my thumb nails pink and it is much easier to do everything. Now I am going to have to stick another two back on because I just helped to move a wardrobe and they fell off. Anyway my review of these nails is mainly positive considering their price and their place of purchase.

Samples aka Free Stuff!!!

Everyone loves a bit of a bargain, it is a well known fact. Recently I have got into samples over the internet. Not that any have arrived yet, so I shan't get my hopes up. I was just wondering if anyone had become hooked on a similar thing or if they had anything in particular they want to recommend. I plan to review what I receive, that is if I receive any at all, though it is early days and who knows, I might be flooded with products to sample and review. So, just an update of what I am up to and wondering if any wise internet users had any advice.
